FEMA Policy - Funeral Cost Assistance for COVID-19-related Deaths
FEMA and the SC Emergency Management Division provide financial assistance for COVID-19-related deaths. Please note – this is not an SCAC program or service.
To register for COVID-19 funeral assistance, the representative or family will need to call 844-684-6333. The registration line is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Multilingual services are available. Applicants who use a relay service, such as a videophone, Innocaption or CapTel, should provide FEMA with the specific number assigned to them for that service so that agency representatives are able to contact them. Note that follow-up phone calls from FEMA may come from an unidentified number.
Once the death is registered, the FEMA representatives staffing the registration line will tell the caller/applicant what documentation is needed (for example, death certificate and funeral invoices) and how to send those to FEMA.
