It is expected that President Biden will sign the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 on Friday, March 12, 2021. This Act is the federal comprehensive response to both the public health and economic crises facing our country because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Included in the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund created by the Act is $65.1 billion in direct funding to county governments. Of utmost interest to counties in South Carolina is approximately $1 billion in direct funding for the counties in our state. The U.S. Department of Treasury will oversee and administer these payments to counties, and every county will be eligible to receive a direct allocation from Treasury.
