Planning/Zoning Webinar: Growth Implications for South Carolina Counties

SCAC is pleased to offer a Growth Implications for South Carolina Counties Webinar on Thursday, June 18^th from 10:00-11:30 a.m. This is the second webinar in a two-part continuing education series for planning and zoning officials and employees. During this virtual session, presenters will discuss how growth in neighboring counties impacts infrastructure, service delivery, and other key factors. Topics such as rural broadband, the importance of zoning in site selection for new industries, and the S.C. Department of Commerce’s work with rural counties will also be discussed. Participants will also learn how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the 2020 Census timelines.

 

Please note - The S.C. Planning and Education Advisory Committee (SCPEAC) has announced changes to the training requirements for planning and zoning officials and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the requirements that continuing education training be conducted in a classroom or group setting and in the presence of a coordinator are waived through June 30, 2020. SCAC is pleased to host two planning and zoning continuing education webinars in June that will meet the 3-hour continuing education requirement. The first webinar in this two-part series—Trends in Planning and Zoning Virtual Meetings and Online Services—will be offered on June 9 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. There is still time to register for the first webinar. Each webinar will be one and a half hours in length, and individuals will be able to participate from their home computers, laptops, or other electronic means. Participants who complete the webinars will receive a completion certificate from the Association. Unlike previous SCAC training sessions where the planning and zoning coordinators registered individual board/commission members and employees, each individual must register for the webinar by clicking on the registration link. Please forward this e-mail to your board and commission members and encourage them to register and participate.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. The confirmation email will include a webinar join link that is unique to the registrant and it may not be shared. Handouts will be sent to the registration email prior to the webinar. The webinar will be recorded and made available for later viewing on the SCAC website.
