Institute of Government for County Officials
Courses in Level I and Level II are being offered in conjunction with the SCAC’s midyear conference, scheduled for Wednesday, February 23. Both courses offered in Level I are electives. Level II courses are open for Institute credit to persons who have completed Level I or are within nine (9) hours of completing Level I. These valuable educational classes are open to all county officials. The deadline for making hotel reservations at the Embassy Suites Hotel has been extended to Feb. 15.
The following classes will be offered for a registration fee of $80.00 per course:
Thursday, February 24:
- 9 a.m. – Noon Level I (E): Building Effective Intergovernmental Relations
- 9 a.m. – Noon Level II: Current Issues - ARPA
- 1 – 4 p.m. Level I (E): Employment Law: What Counties Need to Know
- 1 – 4 p.m. Level II: Decision Making in a Political Environment
Friday, February 25:
- 9 a.m. – Noon Level II: Measuring and Reporting County Performance
- 9 a.m. – Noon Level II: Economic Development
A Council Chairperson’s Workshop will be held concurrently with Institute classes on February 24 from 1 – 4 p.m. This event will provide council chairpersons and vice chairs with an opportunity to explore topics and discuss issues relevant to their unique roles on county council. This session is open to council chairs and vice chairs only.
