  • Standard 2012 – Rated Capacity – Capacity standards at the time of construction
  • Standards 2013 / 2014 – Placed in appendices
  • Standard 2018 (NEW) – Physical Plant Standards (Complete Re-write)
  • Standards 2015 / 2016 / 2017 – Placed in appendices
  • Standard 2019 (NEW) – Housing Standards (Complete Re-write)
  • Standard 2031 – Visitation – Added video visitation to the standard
  • Standard 2032 – Correspondence – Modified to reflect contemporary methods / practices of checking / scanning mail

Minimum Standards For Local Detention Facilities In South Carolina (Round 1)

  • Standard 1005 – (Revised) Defining small, medium, and large agencies – p.5
  • Standard 1007 – (New Standard) – having a standing Review Committee that conducts an on-going review of this document every year to stay more contemporary as well as avoiding having to go through this review process every 5-10 years. Committee will be made up of 5 members (1 SCAC, 1 SCDC, 1 Large Agency, 1 Medium, 1 Small)
  • Standard 1015 – (New) – incorporating an inspection scoring system
  • Standard 1022 – (Revision) – remove the term “homeland security issues” from list of required policies - p.14
  • Standard 1030/1032 – (Revision) - combining 1030 into 1031(f) – having one staff member per shift CPR certified – p. 14 and p. 15
  • Standard 1031(d) – (Revision) – if a facility’s total FTEs are 20% less than the total of FTEs required in the latest staffing analysis, the facility will not be in compliance - p. 15
  • Standard 1032 – (Revision) – Additional curriculum requirements for Detention Management (Question – Does SCCJA or SCJAA need to develop curriculum?) – p. 15
  • Standard 1033 – (Revision) – Change the term Jail Operations Training to Basic Detention Training – p. 15-16
