Friday Report - March 27, 2026

The House returned from furlough and worked in committee and subcommittee meetings throughout the week to advance legislation to their calendar. On the floor, the House voted to override Gov. Henry McMaster’s veto of the “Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL)” bill and debated several other bills, including the tort reform bill

Meanwhile, the Senate finally finished debate on the hemp regulation bill and debated and passed the “South Carolina Student Physical Privacy Act.” Additionally, several budget subcommittees continued receiving budget requests from state agencies in advance of the Finance Committee’s scheduled debate of the budget bill during the week of April 6.
