The Senate and House worked furiously this week to pass bills before the crossover date of Wednesday, April 10th. Bills that do not make the crossover date will probably not be taken up until next year. The House is on furlough next week. The Senate will meet in perfunctory session on Tuesday and begin debate on the budget on Wednesday.

The Senate Finance Committee completed their work on the budget this week. It will be placed on the calendar for a week, and the Senate will debate the budget beginning the week of April 15th. The crossover date for bills to move from one side of the chamber to the other is April 10th. Bills that don’t make the crossover date will probably not be taken up until the next year.

Once again, it was a very busy week at the statehouse. There are several important bills that will be debated in full committees or on the House and Senate floors next week.

Local Government Fund (LGF)

The House-passed version of the budget includes $11 million in additional funding to the LGF over last year’s funding amount. This amount exceeds SCAC’s policy position by more than $2 million.
