Legislative Alert - February 10, 2025 - Hearing Set for S. 317

A bill (S. 317(opens in a new tab)) was introduced last week in the Senate to provide a 50% property tax reduction to boat owners. S. 317 is already set for a hearing tomorrow at 2:00 pm.

Apparently it is more important for some members of the General Assembly to give boat owners a tax break than to help out small businesses and renters. SCAC believes such a large exemption will create a substantial impact on many counties, most of which will be forced to shift the burden to other taxpayers. Please contact your senator(opens in a new tab) and ask them to oppose S. 317.
