Government finance is a complex field that’s vital to keep public services running smoothly and efficiently. But it’s also a field that faces ongoing challenges in recruiting and retaining qualified staff.
SCAC recently convened a series of public finance roundtables resulting in an online toolkit to offer practical resources and support for counties navigating workforce and financial management challenges.
The discussions included county administrators, finance officers, and representatives from national Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the Government Finance Officers South Carolina chapter (GFOASC), and auditing firms.
The resulting toolkit features information about certification options, relevant news articles including a cover story from the Fall 2025 County Focus magazine, links to national resources and the latest trend reports.
