The U.S. Department of Justice released a new Interim Final Rule on implementation of the Americans with Disability Act web-based accessibility requirements for local and state governments.

The updated guidance grants a one-year extension from the original compliance deadline:

  • Counties with populations over 50,000: April 24, 2027
  • Counties with populations at or below 50,000: April 28, 2028

The National Association of Counties (NACo) is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, April 21, at 3 p.m. to walk through the rulemaking and next steps for implementation.
