Only three weeks remain in this legislative session, so legislators at the State House are in full-sprint mode to get bills across the finish line before sine die May 14. The Senate passed the state budget Thursday evening after spending the week debating numerous amendments, including several of interest to counties. The House spent most of the week on the floor, debating and ultimately advancing bills restricting the sale of kratom and hemp products.
The Senate version of the FY 2026-27 budget and other bills of interest to counties are detailed in the Friday Report.
