This conference enables all county officials to become better informed about the Association's legislative program. The event will include a legislative briefing from SCAC staff and an opportunity to meet with Representatives and Senators at the State House. The Association will host a reception for members of the S.C. General Assembly that evening at the Palmetto Club. Institute classes including the Council Chairperson's Workshop will be held the following day.
The Institute of Government for County Officials (IOG) is a training program designed to equip county officials with the tools needed to enhance their skills and abilities to function more effectively in their positions. SCAC provides the Institute in cooperation with the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Center for Livable Communities at the College of Charleston. Clemson University’s Master of Public Administration Program is a sponsor of the Institute.
The Council Chairperson's Workshop (CCW) is designed to equip newly elected council leadership with essential skills and knowledge for effective governance. The day-long program covers, among other things, legal responsibilities, leadership and relationship building, and meeting management.
