Spotlight: Caroline Deevey
This week’s SCAC team spotlight is Caroline Deevey. As the association’s insurance trusts’ assistant coordinator, Caroline describes herself as a “jack of all trades.” From assisting with underwriting and helping the association’s risk managers and property and liability adjusters to issuing various types of certificates, Caroline’s 25 plus years in the insurance industry is a tremendous asset to member counties and coworkers. Her colleagues describe her as dedicated, resourceful, caring, flexible, unflappable, funny, and very knowledgeable.
When asked about her background and interests, Caroline says, “A family friend once told me if I got into insurance, I would never get out. And here I am today still assisting customers and broadening my insurance knowledge. I enjoy learning about different types of insurance and coverages and how they apply to real-world situations. I have earned many professional designations over the years which have helped me broaden my knowledge and keep up with the ever-changing insurance industry. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of insurance and helping people understand how it can apply to their specific situations and challenges they face to protect them from the possibility of loss.” She has a variety of experience in different types of insurance including underwriting and managing a Hunt Club and Forestry Equipment Program, marketing and managing a book of small commercial business, flood insurance, and personal lines.
Caroline enjoys spending time with her two Mastiffs (aka - her children), her husband, and her family, and working out. Her husband is in the restaurant industry, so she also enjoys trying different foods and wines and learning about different vineyards, varietals, and vintages. She has a soft spot for animals and would like to become more involved in fostering and rescue in the future. Her favorite quote is:
“And in time, this too shall pass”
