Applications are now open for the South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR)'s State-Funding Mitigation Program. This grant opportunity, open to counties and local governments, supports projects reducing current and future risks to communities, residents, property and infrastructure in South Carolina. There are $10 million in funds appropriated by the General Assembly available to advance statewide mitigation efforts aligned with the legislatively mandated Strategic Statewide Resilience and Risk Reduction Plan.
There are two categories of funding. The first combined category is $5 million in funding for project scoping and plans and studies. This includes identifying risks, evaluating mitigation needs and advancing potential projects toward their implementation.
The second category is $5 million in funding to focus on stormwater restoration and improvement projects as well as voluntary residential buyouts. Voluntary residential buyouts require the acquisition of eligible residential properties with the goal of moving people and structures out of harm’s way and reducing long-term flood risk.
Applications are open until January 15, 2027. Learn more and apply on SCOR’s website.
