Newly Introduced Legislation - April 24, 2026

House Bills

H. 5568 – Would outline a procedure for the transfer of water systems between political subdivisions. 

H. 5572 -Would require the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services to develop, in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, comprehensive per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance(PFAS)  guidelines. 

Senate Bills

S. 1130 – Would make the head of each certified political party subject to the state’s ethics and lobbying laws. 

S. 1140 – Would require a candidate running for probate judge to be an attorney or have 10 years of experience as an employee in a probate judge’s office. It also would require clerks of court to complete six hours of mandatory continuing education specific to the probate court by Dec. 31 each year.
