Hearing Set for Bill (S. 317) to Reduce Property Taxes for Boat Owners

S. 317 provides a 50% property tax reduction to boat owners and is scheduled for a Senate Finance Subcommittee hearing tomorrow afternoon upon adjournment of the Senate. SCAC believes that the subcommittee intends to move this bill forward to the full committee.

The large exemption in this legislation will create a substantial impact on many counties, most of which will be forced to shift the burden to other taxpayers.

Please contact your senator and ask them to oppose S. 317 because of the unfair tax exemption that it proposes to enact.
